18 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2025 | Welcome back! We are now beginning our fall semester at what many describe as the yearlong camp for active adults. Summer vacations are over, and the Recreation Department is accepting reservations for 2026. The reservations are inputted by staff in priority, confirmations emailed, and any conflicts can be addressed by contacting Julie Van Dam, the Event Coordinator. The Social Clubs have been submitting their paperwork throughout this month. The interest group category is the next in line. This group includes card players, art classes, discussion, for those who gather for a specific interest. Forms will be available at the Front Desk to reserve a spot in the Clubhouse. New residents need to avail themselves of the process and if questions arise, please stop by the Front Desk to have those questions answered. This month the Recreation Department is sponsoring the Fall Flea Market and Craft Fair on Sat., Sept. 27 at 9 am in Abravanel Hall. Now that the annual driveway sale is an annual event, residents do not tend to bring or schlep their larger items to sell. If interested in participating, come by and sign up to be a seller. The Garden Club is offering a $6 hot dog lunch. We say "thank you" to the Garden Club membership for volunteering their time, and everyone enjoys an affordable hot dog. Volunteering is what makes this community so special, not to mention all the new acquaintances made while working the event together. The Community Services Committee (CSC) meets on the second Friday of each month at 10 am. They do encourage residents to come and address concerns regarding the Clubhouse and surrounding recreational facilities. This would include recreational equipment, presentations, upcoming events, transportation services, pool use, artwork, and so many other concerns that residents may wish to discuss. Please feel free to visit, the meetings are open to the membership. This is a friendly reminder to all pet owners. Pets need to always be on a leash. Pets are not allowed to walk on the Clubhouse side of Leisure Village Way and surrounding recreational areas, closest to the Clubhouse. Only service animals are permitted in the Clubhouse. Check out the Monthly Events and our Upcoming Events sections in this publication. The weekly activity schedule is online, and copies are available in the information hallway. Movie schedules are in the Clubhouse racks by the front desk. The Clubhouse is always bustling with over 700 activities a month, 12,000 reservations a year, and a fun place to meet a neighbor for coffee. Bring on the pumpkins, the falling leaves, and the ability to enjoy the 84-degree saltwater pool year-round. Life is good! Happy Fall to You All! Recreation News By Christy Bessey
