| OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2025 |27 Art Lovers Because there were no "Art Lovers" club meeting or artistic presentations, we thought a short recap of some of the artists, whose work has been shown over the past year. Thomas Dunlay's paintings "Summer Breeze" and "Marins Lane" were beautiful depictions of some of the scenes of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Louis Lozowick's explored a different type of art. He came to America from Ukraine in 1968. He is considered a "precisionist artist," and also a lecturer on modern Russian Art. He has been shown in the Whitney Museum in New York, and his papers are at the Smithsonian archives of American Art. Robert Miles Parker was considered an "historical preservationist" whose goal was to save old buildings from what he called "Two Story Concrete Beasts." He had a particular love of San Diego; he referred to it as a "holy place." He wrote about special things that were built many years ago, and over the years were torn down. His work has been shown in The Museum of the City of New York. Molly Dee was also a Nantucket artist, who, as she said "searched for things to paint in such a way, that they became not a man or woman or child, but a faceless pulsation of human emotion." For the meeting in September, there will be a film about the life and work of sculptor David Hostetter, a well-known sculptor. He fashioned magnificent wood and bronze statues, all of ladies. The film will tell the story of finding the right tree, cutting it down, sculpting it, and creating his ladies. Join us on Tues., Sept. 16 for lunch and a wonderful presentation at the Clubhouse in the Mykonos Room. Where has the summer gone?! We hope that you have been able to enjoy the many amenities that OHCC has to offer and encourage you to check out the really terrific photography exhibit in the Art Studio.
