| OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2025 |25 Summer is almost over, and rehearsals are starting this month for our upcoming concert in December. Our first rehearsal is on Thurs., the 11th of September, from 10:15 until 12 noon in Abravanel Hall. Speaking for all of us, I think the Chorus is anxious to get started. I know I am. Meanwhile, we have scheduled a guest concert for Mon., Sept. 29 at 6:30 pm in the Hall. Our artists will be The Rolf Olsen Jazz Quartet. The Rolf Olsen Quartet plays a wide range of jazz and Latin music. Their repertoire includes everything from well-known standards to more obscure jazz compositions, as well as modern jazz styles, swing music, the bebop music of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie and the post-bop music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. So, if you like contemporary jazz, please plan on joining us. Ticket sales will be at the concierge desk in the Clubhouse on Sept. 2, 3, 8, and 10 from 10 am until 2 pm. On Sept. 29, the night of the concert, you can also purchase tickets one hour before the concert between 5:30 until 6:30 pm. We are a very dynamic group of singers and can always use more members. So, if you think you would like to be part of the Chorale, come give us a try. We need other folks in addition to our singers. We really do appreciate the backstage helpers whose efforts are so valuable to the success of the Chorale and can't put on a concert without them. There are a lot of things to do that don't involve singing but are still a lot of fun. The website for the Choral Society is http://ohchorale.wixsite.com/ohchorale. It is also available on the Ocean Hills Country Club website. Scan the QR code and it will also take you to the website. Written by Jack Shabel Choral Society e Holidays Are Coming! Now that we're in the last quarter of the year with all of its holiday events, members of Sewing Etc. Club will be exercising their creative skills to come up with appropriate decor and gifts. Expect to see some interesting knitted, crocheted or sewn pumpkins. Table runners, napkins and tree skirts are also popular choices and, this year, you might see some aprons. Have you considered making tree ornaments from buttons or a bearded elf on a lighted wine bottle? By the time this article appears, the goal set for Christmas stockings to be donated to Camp Pendleton might be reached; however, if you are interested in learning how to make these wonderful stockings, it's not too late. Members of the club manage to keep busy doing a variety of projects and have the opportunity to take classes to learn new skills or to relearn things that were put aside "until I have time." If you are interested in learning a new craft, picking up an old hobby or wish to suggest a class, please contact Marylu Belisle at (952) 454-1931 or leave a message at mlubelisle@icloud.com Please be sure to visit our website for the schedule and more. http:// ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing Dues are still just $7 a year. Member meetings are held at 9:30 am on the first Thursday of each month in the Mykonos Room. Guests are always welcome. Written by Marylu Belisle Sewing Etc. Club
