Our entertainment will be Renee Rojanaro who has sung for us just once or twice to great reviews so it'll be a good one. We love her! Our September event featured Dave Ambrose who sang for us for the first time and OMG! He was such a major hit that those in attendance literally booed me when I stopped him to begin the dinner. That's kinda hard not to take personally, guys … but I bow to his talent. Dave sings from a variety of genres but with a country flare. Some of his songs included Bye Bye Love, Won't You Let Me Take You On A Sea Cruise, Kansas City, en You Can Tell Me Good- bye, Pretty Woman, Can't Help Falling In Love, and Summertime Blues. He continued to sing during dinner and ended with God Bless the USA to all standing. Not one person had left during his singing and when he ended the place emptied in record time, but not before I heard so many glowing praises that we just have to have him back soon. Thank you, Dave, our club is filled with your fans now. We can see him at our Sun Lakes Wednesday Happy Hour on Nov. 19 in the Lounge. Thank you, Dave! The 80s Club is designed for our Sun Lakes residents near or over 80 years of age along with their guests, no matter their ages. But I have to admit I do not check your IDs and I recently found out we have some members in their 70s … I love that! Our events are always on the first Saturday of the month and begin at 3 pm, and include a brief meeting with announcements, then entertainment with the meals beginning between 3:30 and 3:45 pm. Each month is very close to the capacity at the South Clubhouse so get your money and reservations in early. Come join us once for the meal price of $20 to see if you might enjoy our group and only if you do will you need to join for the second time you attend. Our dues are $10 a year per person. Get your checks for our Nov. 1 event by Oct. 26 to Donna Harrington at 5393 Riviera. There is a box on Donna's front porch labeled 80s Club for your checks. No reservations will be accepted after the deadline. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date and make sure your phone number is on the check. Also, please give us the name of any guests you are paying for and bringing. We're always at the South Clubhouse, people begin arriving at 2:30 pm to get checked in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3 pm. Meals are $20 per person.
