FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2025 47 From Spooky Season to Holiday Cheer: Travel Group on the Go … Spooky season, sea life, and sparkling holiday lights — join us for trips you won't want to miss. October is here — the month of Halloween, ghosts, goblins, witches, and black cats. But let's be honest, none of that scares Travel Group members. After all, most of us raised kids, and that's a lot scarier than any haunted house! (LOL) Instead of tricks, we're looking forward to plenty of treats this month with our upcoming trips and gatherings. October is always a busy time for us and 2025 is no exception. Our first adventure takes place Oct. 6–8, when we head out for a fun-filled getaway to Laughlin. This trip is always a favorite, with plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, gaming, dining, and just relaxing along the beautiful Colorado River. It's the perfect way to enjoy a few days away with friends and soak up the crisp autumn air. On Oct. 22, we'll make a local journey to The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. This world-class aquarium is home to more than 12,000 animals and offers visitors the chance to explore the incredible diversity of underwater life. From playful sea otters to colorful tropical fish, there's something for everyone to enjoy. While you're there, you can choose to have lunch on your own inside the aquarium or walk across the street to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for a lively, themed dining experience. Either way, it's sure to be a memorable outing. Don't forget, our monthly meeting will be held on Friday, Oct. 18 at 10 am in The Lodge Ballroom. This month's speaker is Lofi Alm from AAA, and she'll be joined by a representative from Trafalgar Insight Vacations. They'll share information about exciting upcoming travel opportunities, both near and far. Be sure to come out and give them a warm welcome — you won't want to miss the ideas and inspiration they'll bring. Looking ahead, the holiday season is just around the corner, and we have two wonderful trips planned to celebrate. In November, we'll travel to the Getty Villa, a breathtaking museum in Malibu that combines art, history, and stunning ocean views. Then in December, we'll head to San Diego for the annual Tree Lighting in Little Italy. This festive event, done in true Italian style, features music, lights, and plenty of holiday cheer. Both trips are sure to put you in the spirit of the season! So while October may be filled with spooky decorations and Halloween fun, our Travel Group will be busy making memories together — and looking forward to even more adventures in the months ahead. As for eating out, Mimi's, Dumpling Master, and Carolyn's Cafe satisfied our dining needs. Unfortunately, our outing to Sky's The Limit Observatory had to be canceled due to weather concerns but we hope to reschedule it. On Sept. 1, the Singles gathered at The Summit for a relaxing Labor Day potluck. As can be seen from the photo, our group is really growing. Many more activities like these are on our "to do" list so if these sounds appealing to you and you're single, we'd love to see you at one of our future meetings. We meet on the first Friday of the month in the RCN building at 6 pm. For more information, please contact Sue Torkington, (860) 712-3430. ~ Phyllis Kates e Singles celebrated Mel Zeldin's birthday at Mimi's. Our Labor Day potluck was a great success. anks to members Elena and Lisa for volunteering to do the barbecuing of hamburgers and hot dogs. Our walking group has grown and now walks three days a week. All have enjoyed the serenity of our miles of walking trails here in Four Seasons.
