Limit ONE ENTRY per residence per month "October is crisp days and cool nights, a time to curl up around the dancing ames and sink into a good book." - John Sinor. at is a lovely and true quote, unless you live in Hemet, where there are still strong hints of summer. But it won't be long before your summer body ocially becomes a distant memory, buried under layers of pumpkin spice lattes and oversized sweaters. Our Four Seasons community welcomed October a bit early with an enjoyable Oktoberfest celebration that featured delicious bratwurst and potato salad. We mustn't forget the "Omp Pa Pas" ringing throughout the plaza. ank you to the Social Committee for their hard work organizing such a fun and festive event. We also appreciate Francisco and the Bistro for providing a hearty German-style meal. Fun fact: Oktoberfest is a fabulous 16-day beer festival in Munich, Germany. It began in 1810 as a celebration for the royal wedding of Prince Ludwig. e event was so popular that locals requested it become an annual celebration, and it has been ever since. Oktoberfest is a proud symbol of German culture, attracting six to seven million enthusiastic visitors each year who appreciate its rich historical signicance and partake in the beloved festivities. October is a fantastic time to enjoy delicious bratwurst and beer. Still, it's also the perfect opportunity to incorporate comforting foods into our menus. is season allows us to use excellent produce like butternut squash, pumpkin, apples, mushrooms, cranberries, and sweet potatoes, which are ideal for making soups, stews, and desserts. Additionally, we should consider other October ingredients such as fennel, kale, and cauliower. For heartier meals, think about preparing chili, stews, and risottos to fully embrace fall's comforting and delicious avors. Before I wrap up, I want to warmly welcome our newest Bistro Committee members: Linda Hill, Sheila Wilcox, and Sharon Francis. We are excited to have you on board and appreciate your willingness to share your time and talents. ese ladies and the rest of the Committee are always available to assist you with your catering needs.
