| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2025 |25 Summer is over, but how can you tell when you live in Southern California? I think I know; summer is over when the Choral Society starts rehearsing for the Holiday Concert. Rehearsals started on ursday, the 11th of September with a group of enthusiastic singers and a few empty chairs. We always can use a few more folks to join us, so if you love to sing, come on out to the Abravanel Hall some ursday and take a listen and see if it is for you. We rehearse from 10:15 until 12 pm. ere is a great joy in singing and it is even more fun in a group. I hope all who attended our guest concert on Mon., Sept. 29 enjoyed the performance by e Rolf Olsen Jazz Quartet. e Rolf Olsen Quartet played a wide range of jazz and Latin music. eir repertoire included everything from well-known standards to more obscure jazz compositions, as well as modern jazz styles, swing music, the bebop music of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie and the post-bop music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. It promised to be a great night of music. One caveat, I had to write this article prior to the actual performance, but I have researched the group, so I anticipate that the concert was a great success. e recording of the concert will be available on channel 1960. We are a very dynamic group of singers and can always use more members. But, if you think you can't sing or would feel uncomfortable trying to sing in public, we do need other folks in addition to our singers. We really do appreciate the backstage helpers whose eorts are so valuable to the success of the Chorale and can't put on a concert without them. ere are a lot of things to do that don't involve singing but are still a lot of fun. e website for the Choral Society is http://ohchorale.wixsite.com/ohchorale. It is also available on the Ocean Hills Country Club website. Scan the QR code and it will also take you to the website. Written by Jack Shabel Choral Society e Sewing Etc. An inventory of the cabinets, drawers and closet was just completed with the results brought to the attention of the club members. We have a lot of stu! e coordinator of the inventory event commented that had she known what was available, she would not have purchased an infrequently used tool. From clothes pins to sewing machines, many reusable items are kept for classes, activities and members' use. Now that the inventory is complete, some of the items may be oered to members through email messages to all members or at our annual luncheons. Stay tuned! If you've noticed the freshly painted walls in the Sewing Room and the absence of decor, there is a committee that's sorting through suggestions to come up with display items that represent the variety of things done by club members. If you have suggestions or items you'd like to have them, consider, please leave a note at the front desk for the Sewing Etc. Club envelope.
