Your OH Travel Club Board, Adele, Lynn, Amy, Jeannine and Callie Written by Amy Blount and approved by the Travel Club Board. Travel Club Your new Board of Directors is excited to serve and support our vibrant community of buttery enthusiasts. We are committed to enhancing our club in meaningful ways to help achieve our shared goals — and we deeply value every one of you and your contributions to the Save the Monarch Buttery Club. Our main focus this season is creating and maintaining a beautiful sanctuary garden — lled with butteries of all kinds and the colorful, nourishing owers they rely on. But we can't do this alone. We need your help. Ruth Schafer is leading our volunteer eorts in the garden. Don't hesitate to reach out to her and join us in the garden! In addition to maintaining the garden, we're working to make it an educational hub for the community. While state regulations (from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife) now prohibit the rearing of Monarchs in captivity, we're exploring new, natural ways to inspire learning — without caging caterpillars or butteries. Look for some exciting updates and additions next season! We're also thrilled to introduce our new monthly newsletter: e Monarch Monthly. It will provide you with the latest club updates, tips for buttery gardening, and a calendar of upcoming activities and events. You may have already noticed a new addition to the garden: a buttery observation box placed on the table near the gate. is is where you can help us log buttery sightings and track the number of garden visitors. We're especially interested in counting Monarchs, but also the many other beautiful butteries we see regularly including Cloudless Sulphurs, Mourning Cloaks, Cabbage Whites, Painted Ladies, and Swallowtails. Every so oen, we even get rare visitors, like the Queen buttery — which looks almost identical to the Monarch but has a few subtle dierences. Keep an eye out! Finally, we're hosting an event along with the Pet Lovers Club featuring Bill Toone, who founded the Ecolife Conservation organization. He will provide us with an inspiring presentation of "Roar of the Monarch" - a story of one of nature's most spectacular migrations. Join us Nov. 1 at 10 am in Abravanel Hall. Sign up at the reception desk in the Pet Lover's Club Folder. is is a free event. Written by Rona Cole Save the monarch butterfly
