| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2025 |27 Art Lovers Everyone seems happy to be back aer the summer, to enjoy our club activities. Art Lovers president, Susan Pick, works very hard to bring programs to the meetings and arranges wonderful trips. September's program was a lm featuring the work of sculptor David Hostetler. And of course, lunch is always served by Louise Peterson. No charge. David Hostetler was born in Ohio, and until his death, he was President Emeritus at Ohio State. His work consists of series of beautiful women, whom he called "his ladies." He spends the summer on Nantucket, and spends winters with wife Susan, on 40-acre farm in Athens, GA. e lm showed the process he goes through, from cutting down the perfect tree, to sculpting one of his ladies, and from them he creates magnicent women, from wood and bronze. However, the lm was not only about his work, but about him as a person. He is quite a character and an interesting one. And I know you will enjoy our October meeting. We haven't totally decided what the program will be, but I know it will be as special as always. So, join us. Have lunch, enjoy the program, and become a member, if you are not one already. Art Lovers will be having a car trip to the Barrio Glassworks Located in Carlsbad Village for a demonstration of Glass Blowing on Wed., Oct. 22. Written by Selma Leighton Autumn has arrived! Cooler temperatures, pumpkin pies, football games, and thinking ahead to upcoming holidays! In the meantime, we hope that you have checked out the 40 wonderful photographs in the Art Studio, as that exhibit will soon be changed to paintings! Again, we thank the photographers for lending us their work so that their photos could be enjoyed by all of us here at OHCC. We are fortunate to not only to have talented residents, but also the space (and slat board) in the Clubhouse to have a permanent place to feature the work of our residents. is month we will welcome the creativity of our talented painters, using various mediums to capture their imagery and skills, whether in watercolor, oil, enamel, or acrylic. Newly installed at the front desk area is a dynamic, powerful, deeply colorful acrylic painting by talented resident artist, Bruce Taylor. If you would like to show your work in the Art Studio, please contact Mike ornton, or the writers of this article: Lainy Vinikow and Judy Harris. Art Studio
