By Tracie Rodgers e Human Spirit: Lately, I've found myself fascinated by the resilience of the human spirit — how we keep moving forward, even when our minds and bodies seem to resist us every step of the way. My natural instinct is to smile, to stay cheerful, though I'll admit I carry a dark sense of humor. Some days are harder than others, and I feel myself sinking into the melancholy. When life gets too heavy, I put on my jammies and pray that sleep will carry me through to morning. Because if I can just make it to the next sunrise, things will be better. Perhaps that's why sunrise has always been my favorite time of day. It arrives wrapped in hope. Since I was 10 years old and fell in love with Annie, I've sung "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" more times than I can count — not just to entertain myself, but to remind myself of the promise that tomorrow brings. Now, as we step into a busy holiday season, I know many of us feel that heaviness a little more. So I want to remind everyone: my offer still stands — for a hug, a listening ear, or just a moment of kindness. Come out this month and find joy in the small things: browse the Art & Crafts Show, thank a veteran, enjoy the piano concert, dance, laugh over a turkey platter at Thanksgiving, buy your New Year's Eve tickets.
