| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2025 | 37 Golf Club Exciting news! On Oct. 2 the Golf Club voted to include the Flingers in our club. Don Quigly and Tom Murphy head up Fling Fest Fridays to demonstrate and review golf etiquette and basic instruction of this new sport in OHCC. Above is a picture of a Fling Fest instruction. Flingers have much enjoyed playing the new sport. November is here and while our official golf season starts to dwindle there is plenty left ahead with a Volunteer Appreciation luncheon on Oct. 30 to thank all the volunteers who have generously supported our club this year, the Nov. 17 TA at the Welks, and finally the crowning of our Ace of the year in early December. Touring Amateurs was Sept. 15 at Emerald Isle. The Closest to Pin winners were Robbie Sullivan and Greg Coffey. There were two teams who scored the lowest gross on the day with a 10 under 45. Shaw, Erickson, Friedman and Jones as well as the foursome of Batzofin, Bechill, Coffey and McDaniel-well done! There were 11 Magic Circle winners-too many to name! All winners are posted on our website OHGC.Net . Guys and Dolls were held on Sept. 20 with lots of winners including 10 magic circle winners! Closest to the Pin were Sandy Ackerman and Dave Egelhoff. Low gross on the day were teams of Komisareks, Trogdon & Rautenkranz and team Albiston, Machnick and Royters with net scores of 22 or 6 under par. In weekly tournament-play, kudos to our most recent Hole-in- One winners Ken Spencer on Sept. 9 and Sandy Ackerman on Sept. 17. Bernie Alfonso (at right), our regular Ladies Day starter, has taken "early" retirement after many years of self less duty. Debbie Machnick collected donations from the Wednesday players and gave Bernie a fun $300 gift cake at our general meeting. We will miss Bernie and are grateful for the hours starting us. Thankfully we have a bunch of great new recruits to start us going forward. We need volunteers for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday golf- please step forward and talk to Todd Albiston or Debbie Machnick. If you have pics to share, please send them to me as I love featuring US!
