WAlkers and Hikers
In October, we enjoyed some new walks and hikes, including
the Santa Margarita River Trail. We were pleased when one of
our members, Kevin Sorenson, stepped forward and offered to
lead a favorite hike of his, Double Peak Ridgeline. The hikers were
treated to a novel experience because Kevin scheduled the hike for
sunset! Instead of our customary early morning walks or hikes,
our group ventured out at 4 pm for this 4.7-mile hike, so we could
witness sunset on the mountain, and still get back to our cars before
dark. Afterwards, the hikers rewarded themselves with a dinner at
Amalfi Marina Bar in San Marcos.
We closed the month with a new and exciting walk on the
morning of Halloween, at Highland Valley Trail, which offered
an opportunity to go pumpkin shopping at the pumpkin patch.
Afterwards, the hikers went to Orfila Vineyards and Winery in
Escondido.
***SAVE THE DATE*** - Please mark your calendars for Tues.,
Dec. 16 between 5:30 and 7:30 pm, when the OHCC Walkers/Hikers
will have their 3rd Annual Christmas Lights Walk on numerous
streets in OHCC. This year, we will be walking and viewing the
decorations, with a twist. We are adding Christmas caroling to our
walk. If you want us to come to your doorstep and sing a Christmas
Carol or two, we will add you to our walking route. You can text
