FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2025 61 We have now implemented our winter schedule, which means that we start play at 9 am instead of 8 am on Mondays and Saturdays. We continue to play at the shuff leboard courts at The Lodge, behind the swimming pool and next to the paddle tennis courts. We enjoy our own quiet area for playing. A great way to start your day is to come out and join our group for some fresh air, exercise and socialization. Shuff leboard is an easy game to learn and almost anyone can quickly become proficient. Our games usually last about an hour or so and we randomly select different teams each time that we play. This keeps the competition challenging and the games more interesting. We have no losers, only non-winners. We have a wonderful group of residents who play regularly but we are always eager to welcome new players. If you are interested in joining a fun activity with friendly residents, please come out on a Monday and/or Saturday morning a little before 9 am. We will introduce you to the game of shuff leboard in case you have never played before. If you have played before and just need a review, we can give you a refresher. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuff leboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948- 1693, mrtmj@aol.com Shuffleboard Bocce Ball is played Tuesday and Friday at 9 am at The Summit. We just started our winter hours. We have a great group of players that will welcome new players to join us. Play is on beautiful tournament grade, smooth and accurate courts with sideboards. Easy small steps in makes it easy to enter. Smooth concrete surrounds the courts with players learning accurate and careful throws. The word "Bocce" comes from the Italian word meaning to bowl. The small white ball called the Pallino is thrown first to start the game. Get your ball as close to the Pallino as possible to score a point. If more balls of the same color are closest, these additionally score points. Players take turns until all balls are thrown. This makes it an ideal game for socializing in between turns. Often cheers and laughter can be heard. The first team to score 12 points wins. Two games are generally played and take approximately one and a half hours. We draw cards to pick four teams. The game of Bocce Ball requires no special skill or previous experience. You will get a little exercise and enjoy a beautiful view and breeze at The Summit, all while having a great time with a great group of your Four Seasons neighbors. If you are interested in learning the game please join us. Call or text me Hank at (840) 234-6494 or email me at hanknegrete 16@yahoo.com. ~ Hank Negrete Bocce Ball
