Hoping you are able to attend the District Tree Lighting Ceremony
on Dec. 1. Makua Hawaiian dancers will be performing Hallelujah
and Run, Run Rudolph. We will also be joining our Sun Lakes
Chorale for their December show performing The Prayer/Lead Us
Lord and O Holy Night.
We had the privilege of performing at the Yucaipa Community
Center for the Sage Oak Charter School Cultural Fair. In addition
to our Hawaiian dances, we were able to share that the culture
of Hawaii is a blend of Native Hawaiian traditions identified by
core values like Aloha (love, compassion, and respect) and Ohana
(family). A deep respect for nature, strong community bonds, and
cultural expressions like hula dancing, music, storytelling, and
traditional foods are all part of the Hawaiian culture.
Anyone interested in learning Hawaiian Hula dancing is welcome
to join the Makua Hula Dancers every Wednesday from 10 am to
12 pm at the North Clubhouse. No previous dance experience is
necessary.
