12 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2025 | Lifestyles Magazine is the resource most residents turn to find out what's going on in our community. At up to 80 pages, it includes pictures from residents plus articles from the Master Board, Delegate Assembly, FirstService, the Restaurant, the golf pro, and all the advisory committees. Clubs and groups send articles and photos about their activities to Sunlakesnews@yahoo.com by the sixth of each month. The Lifestyles Advisory Committee meets on the seventh of each month, unless otherwise specified, to review and edit the articles submitted for each month's issue of the magazine. We also publish want ads and for sale items from residents at no cost and hide a monthly joke for residents to find. Responses to our "Get the Joke" contest are put in a hat and a winner is randomly drawn, earning a Visa gift card as a prize. Photographs taken by residents of areas within Sun Lakes are used on the magazine cover. We also post pictures of residents on their vacations, or of their beloved pets. If you're good at proofreading and are interested in joining us, please fill out a volunteer application form that you can get in the Main Clubhouse Lobby, and we'll put you on our waiting list. Lifestyles Advisory This holiday season, you can enjoy reading good books from our newly reorganized four libraries. We have added health, wellness, and inspiration to all three libraries. At the North Clubhouse, we have added classics. The South Clubhouse offers a diverse selection of genres, including mysteries, general fiction, romance, large print, westerns, health, wellness, and inspiration. In the fireplace lounge in the Main Clubhouse, we have the hardback collection of mysteries, general fiction, and romance. In the paperback room, we offer a wide selection of mysteries, general fiction, romance, westerns, large print, health, wellness, and inspirational titles. If you belong to a book club here in Sun Lakes, let us know. Contact John Hasha, Library Chairman, at (626) 533-5098 or at hashajohn@gmail.com, as we would like to prepare a list of book clubs in Sun Lakes. If you would like to become a Library Volunteer to help keep our libraries stocked and shelved, please get in touch with Laurel Stanley at (585) 378-0803 or lvstanley@gmail.com. Enjoy the holiday season by reading our good books at our four libraries. Library Advisory The Safety Advisory Committee has a mission to make recommendations to the Master Board which will contribute to making the Sun Lakes Community as safe as possible for all residents, guests, and vendors. Our Committee consists of nine residents, including an attorney, an ex-law enforcement officer, a retired civil engineer with 40 years of experience in traffic control, and other residents with years of knowledge and experience here at Sun Lakes. We meet on the fourth Monday of the month and at this meeting we receive reports from the Master Board, FirstService Residential, Securitas, and Community Awareness. This is the open session of our meeting and any resident may attend and observe the process for this portion. We encourage anyone who is interested to attend. In the closed session of our meeting, we have "hearings." When residents are found to violate Sun Lakes Rules and Regulations, they may be asked to attend to a Safety Advisory Committee meeting for what is called a hearing. This is an opportunity for the resident to present an explanation for whatever the violation is. It may be for excessive parking violations, dog off-leash complaints, behavior issues, or other violations. Questions are asked to the resident by the committee, and vice versa. After the resident has presented his/ her case the committee will discuss the case and vote to recommend a possible fine or to dismiss the violation. The resident is notified by letter from the Compliance department as to the decision made by the committee. If the outcome is not favorable for the resident and there is a fine, he/she may appeal to the Master Board. Please contact me if you have questions or any safety concerns. My phone and email are below. Have a great day and stay safe! ~ Michael Volz, (818) 310-1950, vmv1950@aol.com Safety Advisory
