| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2025 | 13 The Master Board approved new golf rates for 2026. The new rate sheet is available in the Pro Shop or on the SLCC website. Daily rates for residents and guests have increased but still remain lower than competing golf courses in the area. Unlike our competitors, dynamic pricing with increased weekend and holiday rates for residents or guests was not adopted. Annual golf rates for next year did not increase and remain the same as in 2025. The GAC would encourage all golfers to consider buying an Annual Membership since it is very likely to save you money for the year. If you play 55 rounds of golf (or once each week) it would mark the break-even point for the year. Purchasing an Annual still offers the option of paying monthly to avoid a lump sum payment. If you have questions please stop by the Pro Shop and talk to one of our golf professionals. An important revenue stream for the golf course is the HOA subsidy that all residents contribute to. This subsidy is important to maintain the appearance and beautiful environment that no other similar community in the area offers. Our golf courses comprise 300+ acres including 60+ acres of drought tolerate planting, 3000+ trees, and 11 lakes. Compulsory costs associated with such common areas include irrigation, turf cutting, perimeter wall trimming, tree and lake maintenance. The subsidy that goes towards maintaining the golf courses is not a loss. Maintenance of our mature trees requires water and trimming to keep them healthy and safe for homeowners. The 11 lakes that greatly contribute to the character of our community are not maintenance-free . Most residents are unaware of the effort that goes into the product we all enjoy. The GAC remains committed to maintaining the value and appearance of the golf courses for the benefit of everyone who calls Sun Lakes Country Club their home. ~ Mike Callahan, callahm56@yahoo.com The Master Architectural Committee (MAC) has had a busy and challenging year. As of Oct. 31, the MAC has reviewed 681 applications, averaging 68 applications per month and 860 per year. The 681 applications cover the following requests: • 284 applications involved painting, stucco, or trim. • 145 applications involved landscaping. • 69 applications involved, windows, f lags, garage doors, and other miscellaneous items. • 47 applications involved patio covers. • 63 applications involved corrections of CC&R violations. • 54 applications involved security cameras and/or security lights. The MAC conducted 31 hearings in which fines were levied, unapproved improvements were ordered removed, or unapproved house colors were ordered repainted. Of the 681 applications, the MAC denied 85. Most of the applications that were rejected were due to non-approved paint colors, security motion lights, or security cameras that invaded neighbors' privacy, or improvements that violated the CC&Rs of Sun Lakes Country Club. Some applications were denied because the information, diagrams, or pictures submitted were insufficient to determine what the improvement entailed or what the homeowner intended to do. The MAC has read every application submitted. Some members have driven to the residence to inspect and verify the proposed improvement. The committee members have devoted many hours to reviewing all 861 applications submitted through Oct. 31 and have tried to be fair and impartial in applying the rules, regulations, and CC&Rs of Sun Lakes Country Club. I have been privileged to work with the most dedicated committee members. ~ Roy Nierman, Chairman Golf Advisory Master Architectural
