| THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2025 | 35 Men's Golf By Greg Gries The President's Cup is now in the books and Peter Yatar is the CMGC Match Play Champion. We had 16 golfers this year compete for the champion's bragging rights and a trophy in the HOA Clubhouse. Everyone thought it was interesting and fun, and they want more match play events. The Colony Men's Golf Club plays an 18-hole tournament every Wednesday at California Oaks golf club. We play a variety of games ranging from serious to fun and always with exciting competition. We are a fun-loving group taking golfers of all skill levels and elevating their game through regular play. After the game we usually hang around on the patio talking about the highlights of the day's game. Colony Couples 2Ball By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 The November competition for Colony Couples 2Ball had 42 golfers on seven front nine holes. Our game was followed by a social time at Jimenez Mexican Restaurant, where we were entertained by the restaurant owner, who took all the orders without even a scorecard! Amazing, for after placing my order, I could not remember even mine. The gross scores ranged from 34 to 41, but the real winners had adjustments from 0 to -9 strokes and posted netted scores of 35 to 31. If you fear competition, in this event you can shelve any anxiety, and teams must never count themselves out! Our next contest is set for Dec. 11. Requirements for this event are to be able to grasp a club! Being a member of the Men's or Women's Golf Club is not required nor is an established handicap.
