34 | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2025 | The October tournament had eleven foursomes in two flights of golfers who vied for first place positions in our "A & B Format" event. It was a most enjoyable tournament and had very competitive results. There was a small glitch in the day's play, however, when a CPT Box was misplaced and relocated to another unlikely hole. Surely a Darwin Award recipient misstep, but since I (the club's Humble MC/ CEO) get to award the trophy, I simply extended the number of CPT holes and sleeves for ball winners to include a fifth hole, #9. And happily, I heard no protests. The following posted winning positions for the tournament: Winning Teams "A" Flight 1st 49.726 Rich and Bea Brown, Terry Lundquist and Sue Jordan 2nd 51.512 Mike Tsumura, Anita Hoetker, Dennis Murphy and Annette Lalicker 3rd 51.815 Phil and Suzanne Johnson, Joe Cwirka and Adrienne Grissen "B" Flight 1st 49.633 Charles Craven, Loretta Schlosser, Candi Pineiro and Denise Sturm 2nd 53.164 Pete Yatar, Donita Scott, David and Pat Bailey 3rd 53.329 Leo Pasco, Petty Clendenen, Gary Wilson and Linda Peterson Closest to the Pin #2 Team #17 Bob Miller, Debbie Johnson, Rick Lake and Roswitha Melander – 3'8" #5 Women, Vicky Cornille – 8'8" / Men, Rich Brown – 7'8" #9 Women, Donita Scott – 25"2" / Men, Rick Lake – 6'7" #15 Women, Sherry Roberts – 6'1/2"/ Men, Mike Tsumura – 5'1/2" #16 Team #15 Dan and Sheryl Beamish, Joe Constantino and Donna Matteucci – 9'11" The Darwin and Socrates awards went unclaimed. Our next contest is Dec. 11, and it will be "Pick Your Own 4some." As with all Jack and Jill events, you do not have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for some fun and friendly competition. See ya on the links! We are so proud of our club, and we hope we can do as well next year! Our November luncheon was a busy and successful one. We held our election of officers for 2026, which gave us a great new Board. The Cove catered our luncheon, and we celebrated two special birthdays, Connie VanderByl and Vicky Cornille, with cakes from The Cove. We will be celebrating the Christmas holiday with a special lunch on Tuesday, Dec. 2, during which we will have the installation of officers to our Board. We have a wonderful group of ladies playing either 9 or 18 holes each week, and we would love to have you join us.
