We are excited to introduce our first ever Emeritus members! The Swim & Wellness Club has had many loyal and active members over the years but two who stand out from the crowd are Sue and Frank Tanner. From the start, they have been ardent advocates for the pool. They attend most meetings and offer their support to all club endeavors. Sue and Frank have a long legacy of organizing and facilitating our Swim Clinic, held every July. Many OHCC residents have benefited from their instruction. Both in their 90s, Sue and Frank swim laps three times a week, and they always have a smile and a kind word for fellow swimmers. In light of all of this, the Board voted unanimously to bestow "Lifetime Membership" status to the Tanners. DoDuesDay will be held on Sat., Jan. 10, 10 am to 2 pm. This is an easy way to join the club or renew your membership. Bring your checkbook and for just $12, you will have a front row seat to all things pool related as well as learning about health and wellness topics. This event is a great time to talk to Board members and find out more about what our club offers. We are planning an exciting presentation for our January 2026 meeting. Dr. Ellen Lee, expert in the field of sleep research, will be here to share her expertise. Dr. Lee is a professor and researcher at the UC San Diego Center for Healthy Aging. Mark your calendar now for Mon., Jan. 26th at 2:30 pm. The entire OHCC community is invited to this special presentation. More information will be coming. Winter is a perfect time to learn to swim. The pool is less crowded, and the water temp is always balmy 84 degrees. Our teachers, both male and female, can tailor your instruction to whatever you need. Are you a beginner? Or maybe you have a basic idea of how to swim but want to perfect your strokes. Many people ask for help with proper breathing technique. Whatever you need, we can help. Contact Robin Ryan at robinryan.a@gmail.com for more information. This FREE service is a special benefit to Swim & Wellness Club members. Like all clubs, the S & W board members are volunteers. When we spread out the work, it makes it easier and more fun for all. Right now, we are in desperate need of help with our website. Will you step forward to help? It would involve about one to two hours per month. Contact Anita Simons at asimonsays@gmail.com for information.
