We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and/or friends! And Happy Holidays to all! The Travel Club is busy planning day trips to parts of Southern California. Places we would like to visit and hope you will also. If there is a place you would like to visit or experience, please feel free to contact us (ohcctravelclub2025@gmail.com) with your suggestions. Here are our upcoming trips: Dec. 22. Join us for a trip to the San Diego Zoo for their holiday spectacular "Jungle Bells." We will experience the magic and spirit of the holiday season with the myriad dazzling lights, decorations, amazing entertainment plus a variety of dining options for dinner on your own. There will be entertainers such as Jingle Brass, a brass ensemble; Reindeer Games, an interactive experience of games and dances; Jack Frost Juggler; Holiday Troubadour; Toy Shop Hop and of course the animals (on exhibit until 5 pm). The price includes a one-day pass to the Zoo. 2026 Jan. 20. We will ring in the New Year at our Annual Kick-Off. A light meal with refreshments will be provided. Rosemary Bray will reprise her wonderful presentation on Rhino Conservation in Africa. We will also update everyone on some of our upcoming trips. Feb. 19. We will head to beautiful Balboa Park for a wonderful Architectural Tour focusing on the Spanish style buildings from the 1915-1917 Panama California Exposition. This will include the recently renovated Lily Pond and Botanical Garden. Following a lunch at Old Town Mexican Café, you may wander around Old Town checking out some of the many historical buildings including the "haunted" Whaley House. Frequently people on a trip need to cancel. Many people on our wait lists actually have had the opportunity to go on our trips. To be placed on the waitlist or to register for any of our trips, leave a check made out to the OH Travel Club, in the Travel Club envelope at the Clubhouse Front Desk. Add $5 to the price if you are not a member of the Club. You will receive an email confirming your registration. We certainly hope you will join us on one of our trips! Your OH Travel Club Board, Adele, Lynn, Amy, Jeannine and Callie Written by Amy Blount and approved by the Travel Club Board. | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2025 | 29 Travel Club We will not have our regular meeting in December but will instead have our 2025 Holiday Luncheon on Wed., Dec. 10. Do Dues Day will be Sat. Jan. 10 where can sign up to become a Garden Club member or renew your membership event. Dues are $10 for a year. The benefits of membership are receiving the monthly bulletin with announcements and also the members only workshops and outings. If you miss Do Dues Day, you can sign up to become a member at the monthly meeting. We hold monthly meetings with presentations on a variety of topics. During 2025, we learned how to re-bloom orchids, grow vegetables in a bag, and how to create living succulent wreaths — just to name a few programs. The speaker line up for 2026 promises to be just as informative. The meetings feature refreshments and chances to win fun prizes. Meetings include a gardeners' exchange for cuttings, seeds, and other gardening treasures. You do not have to be a member to attend the monthly meetings, so if you see a topic that sparks your interest — please join us. We also organize the annual OHCC Home Garden Tour. This is a great event and a chance for residents and guests to see some spectacular OHCC gardens. Last year, despite the chilly weather, we had over 500 people tour the gardens. In October the club hosted a fun tote bag-making workshop. We are a welcoming group and are always happy to see new faces at our meetings and events.
