54 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2026 | January started off a little wet, and play was limited to walking the course or cart path only for much of the month. However, we were still able to get in our new year "more golf resolution" and two tournaments (as of this writing). Activities Day is coming on Sat., Feb. 7 between 10 am and 12 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Please stop by and say "hello" and pick up a membership application. We have two types of memberships: associate membership for $15 and a full membership for $30. The associate membership is for those male residents that don't or no longer play golf but want to be a part of the camaraderie in this club. We are open to all male Sun Lakes residents and all levels of players (beginners to experienced). We play every Friday morning on the SCGA rated Executive Course. Membership forms are available in the North Clubhouse Pro Shop or on the EMGC website. You can also contact our membership chairman Mike Volz at (818) 310-1950. Executive Men's Golf January started off a little wet, and play was limited to membership for $30. The associate membership is for those male residents that don't or no longer play golf but want to be a part of the camaraderie in this club. We are open Saturday Morning Golf January showed us that winter was here! But now as it becomes February, there's hope for spring in March and our first quarterly dinner. We will be honoring Nancy Boyle, Marci Moon, Mike Long, and Jon Litty for their holes-in-one in December, a perfect way to end the year. By the time this reaches publication, we'll probably get to add two or three more because that's the way it is on Saturday morning. The holes-in-one keep rolling in and the fun keeps happening! If you would like to join us, we welcome golfers of all skill levels. All you need is a GHIN to participate in our tournaments. For more info, call Mike Volz at (818) 310-1950. We have a short month packed with a lot of activity, and it will seem to go fast. On Feb. 2, we have Groundhog Day. Ol' Punxsutawney Phil will let us know whether spring will come earlier or later. It marks the halfway point with spring being six weeks away. If he doesn't get it right, I have a coyote over on #5 that might be interested. But don't think of it as six more weeks of winter, think about it as six more weeks of character building golf. Think, of it as a chance to get your moneys worth out of those long johns, winter clothing, beanies, and that double golf umbrella you bought. Tournaments for February : Feb. 4 we'll have our Quarterly Tournament and the start of the Eclectic Tournament which runs concurrently with all four of our quarterly tournaments in February, May, August, and November. It's a great way to watch how your score improves. On Sat., Feb. 21, we have our pick your partner three-in-one tournament! This a great way to participate in the club. Grab your buddy and play six holes of Scramble, six holes of Pinehurst, and six holes of Best Ball. I guarantee, you'll have lots of fun and laughs. Don't have a partner? Don't have a group ? Are you new to the club? Consider coming out on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday and hooking up with Tony Browne's group. Tony over the years has gathered a great bunch of Men's Club members of all different handicaps, abilities and personalities that are extremely welcoming. Come on out around 9:30 am those days and he and the guys will be glad to introduce you to a group you will enjoy. It's a great way to meet new people and make new friends that will, carry you throughout the year. Hey, and don't forget guys, Valentine's Day is Feb. 14. But please remember, your old putter or a vacuum hose doesn't qualify as a Valentine's present to your wife! So, don't worry about the rest of the six weeks of winter. Wrap yourself up like the Abominable Snowman, come on out and play golf this winter with the Men's Club, iy will either build character or make you one! Either way, it's a win and we'll have fun.
