| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2026 | 9 Library Committee The new year is well underway. Most of us are even comfortable writing 2026 by now. February has its own share of special days. There's Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, Ramadan, Ash Wednesday, and according to my home 2026 animal calendar, World Spay Day! The library is likely stocked with books on just about all of these subjects if you'll just take the time to search them out. The Library Committee wishes to thank our generous residents for all the new donations of books over the past couple of months. You have kept us busy trying to find places for the most current books — fiction books dated 2016 to the present and paperbacks dated 2021 and newer. Books older than these dates are generally donated elsewhere, like the Hemet Public Library, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and others. There are a few date exceptions, however, which are found in the book categories shelved behind the couch. Have you checked out any Audio Books lately? Committee member, Nathan Church, has been busy repairing the well-used audio book boxes and making sure each box has the correct number of discs in it. Unfortunately, some residents no longer have the equipment to play audio books anymore. The Four Seasons Travel Club has been making the most use of audio books on excursions. Another group of listeners are residents employed as delivery people. They listen as they drive around everyday delivering mail, packages, furniture, whatever. Our community has Amazon trucks here constantly! We hope you check out the new Seasonal Puzzles section in the Computer Room for new winter selections, along with those celebrating current and upcoming winter holidays. A greater variety of puzzles are stored in the other bookcases. The library constantly receives puzzle donations; just be sure your recent donations are of complete puzzles. Four Seasons residents love to take home and work puzzles! We, also, hope that the magazine rack in the library continues to remain full this year. And don't forget the National Geographic magazines on the back wall. If you find some time on your hands when visiting The Lodge, settle down on the couch or in one of our comfy chairs and page through them. Finally, we want to thank Resident Author, Terry Parrish, for his informative Author's Talk presentation in January. We hope to bring you another Author's Talk soon. Watch for publicity from The Lodge. ~ Betty Crase As our community approaches its 23rd year, we've seen a lot of changes, improvements, and of course new faces. What we have not seen is much deviation in the beauty and pride homeowners have come to rely on while calling Four Seasons home. You may ask yourself from time to time, "What is a Facilities Committee and exactly what do they do?" By definition, facilities has two meanings: 'a place, amenity, or piece of equipment provided for a particular purpose' and 'an ability to do or learn something well and easily; a natural aptitude.' Comprised of 13 dedicated, talented individuals, your Four Seasons Facilities Committee certainly fits both definitions. I am the newest member to the committee, joining in December. I bring with me over 40 years of construction experience, specifically in the complex field of tile contracting. Drawing from each of our members' backgrounds and experience levels, enables us to work closely together as a team thereby visualizing entire projects as a whole. Managing the breakdown of details, cost and timing then becomes achieving goals opposed to facilitating tasks. As residents ourselves we take the same pride within our community that you do, viewing every project with care and due diligence. Combining valuable input from our residents, researching vendors and their reputations, carefully analyzing cost enables your Facilities Committee to operate with the 'natural aptitude' our home community expects. In December's Board meeting, the following projects were approved: • Purchase 10 new outdoor heaters and propane tanks from Home Depot • Replace two backf low 2" devices from Breakpoint Pools that control the interior Lodge water • Purchase replacement traffic delineators from Amazon for the World Cup Gate entrance • Purchase two replacement panels for the pool solar system from Solar Pool Supply • Purchase seven mats for cord covers in the Ballroom from American Floor Mats In closing we want to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day this month. Our February meetings will be the first and third Wednesdays beginning at 9 am in The Lodge Conference Room. Feel free to come by and listen in. ~ Albert Williams, Member Facilities Committee
