FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2026 23
Four Seasons residents, beware of the coming spring allergy
season. Allergies may start once wild owers or plants begin to
bloom. All over the Banning Pass and on the desert oor in the
Morongo Valley, Joshua Tree, and Twentynine Palms, sensitivity
to wildowers or blooming plants causes coughing, sneezing, a
runny nose, and itchy eyes. I have struggled with allergies all of
my life. I believe that controlling them comes down to consistent
treatment. Taking a 24-hour allergy pill like Allegra, Claritin, or
Zyrtec helps.
Allergy pills need to be in your system for at least two weeks
before they become eective. Over-the-counter medications
are good but they may cause drowsiness and dry sinuses. Sinus
inhalers can help control the swelling of your nasal passages. is
allows you to breathe freely and easily through your nose, which
should be the goal.
It would be easy if allergies could be like our name, Four
Seasons, but we do not have the luxury of a dened allergy season
in Southern California. Dened seasons may allow you to ease
up on your treatment. Here in the Banning Pass, sporadic rain
may lead to early or late springs. If you try and stop your allergy
treatments, it may backre and leave you congested and miserable
all over again. All of us want to enjoy a healthy retirement.
Keeping a regular treatment schedule should keep congestion and
sinus pain at bay. Without allergies we can all hope to fully enjoy
the beauty of the spring season.
