I founded Blackhawk Protection in 1986 to this current day. I have been married to the love of my life, Tiffany, for 26 years. We have four sons and four beautiful grandchildren, whom all live in Southern California. I enjoy Golf, Fishing, Camping and spending time with my family. We moved to Sun Lakes in June of 2023. I have fallen in love with the people of Sun Lakes and consider them to be the reason I will never leave. I will live here forever. Professional Experience I have been a business owner of Blackhawk Protection, a large Security Company for over the past 40 years. Servicing major sports stadiums, State Fairgrounds and the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I worked for the Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Rams, Chargers, California Speedway, and Lucas Oil Products, amongst others. I have been a business Consultant for the past 20 years. I have had the opportunity to challenge and overcome failed business plans, staffing issues, financial difficulties, for many companies. I am a contract negotiator, and Security Plan Specialist. I've served on the Master Board for the past year as your President. When Elected I feel I can contribute a lot to our community. I will bring with me several residents with over 100 years of corporate finance experience and vendor negotiating power. Using modern business practices, along with new ideas while always utilizing transparency, integrity and common sense, I feel I can bring a new approach to our current Security and Business plans. I will tackle Public Safety issues and create financial stability first. Then I will work closely with our community to represent your needs daily to best of my abilities. I pledge to always do what is best for all of us, not just some of us. I will always remember its not "Me" but "We". I am Howard Katz, candidate for the Sun Lakes Master Board. I'm a fiscal conservative. Our budgets must be realistic and met. We must have sufficient funds to pay our bills on time and funds and plans for emergencies. For too long our boards have accepted poor financial results contributing to our diminished cash position and the dramatic rise in our monthly assessments. Our two most important amenities, food & beverage and the golf courses, have negatively impacted our finances, casting a shadow on our financial performance. A different approach to managing Sun Lakes Country Club with better, more experienced, management company and Master Board is essential. I was a founding member and the original Vice President of the Pass Action Group. The Pass Action Group is the reason there won't be a warehouse across from our main gate. I will fight any future warehouse development near our community. I was Chairman of the Financial Advisory Committee. I've been District 23's Alternate Delegate for four years. I worked 39 years in information technology: 30 with IBM, the other nine with Oracle, 24 Hour Fitness, and a small Dallas consulting company. I have extensive experience in information technology, management, organization, budgeting, strategy development, and requirements definition. My Master Board Priorities and Day-to-Day Focus will be: • Master Board Priorities • Meeting budgets and reducing subsidies • Reducing food & beverage and golf losses • Maintaining $1.SM operating fund balance • Eliminating large increases in HOA dues • Retaining the Spectrum "Door Fee" • Performing good financial management • Expanding the Master Board from five to seven • Limiting executive session business • Day-to-Day Master Board Focus Items a.
