14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2026 | As we move into March and begin to enjoy warmer spring weather, golf activity naturally increases. With more members and guests using the course and practice facilities, tee times will become more limited and we will see higher use of the driving range and short-game areas. We truly appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work together to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. We would like to kindly remind members that when bringing a guest to any golf facility, whether the putting green, chipping green, driving range, or golf course, the member is responsible for hosting and accompanying that guest at all times. Additionally, all members and guests must be properly dressed while using the golf facilities. If a sta member asks you to tuck in a shirt or change attire to meet golf dress standards, please understand this is not personal or selective. Our sta is directed to address these situations whenever they observe them, and their goal is simply to uphold Sun Lakes rules consistently and respectfully. is month, I would also like to address several important matters regarding the driving range. Each year, we spend approximately $8,000 on range balls, along with additional costs for purchasing driving range tokens, which cost $2 each. At the beginning of January, all range balls were replaced with new ones, and we also added 100 additional tokens to the Pro Shop inventory, as range balls are now included with Annual Membership purchases. Unfortunately, within ve days, all of those tokens were gone. is indicates that more tokens were being distributed than were being used on the same day, resulting in a shortage for other members. To help manage this, sta have been instructed to provide only the number of tokens needed for that day's practice. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but without this change, we would need thousands of tokens to accommodate members holding onto them. We are currently exploring alternative range ball machines that may help improve this situation in the future. Another ongoing concern involves range balls and baskets being removed from the driving range. Aer replacing the range balls, we discovered a signicant number of old balls mixed in with the new ones, as well as an overall shortage. is clearly indicates that range balls are being taken from the facility. Per Sun Lakes Rules and Regulations, under Article VIII, Rule 9, range balls are prohibited from being used on the golf course and/or removed from the driving range. We have conrmed this issue through lake sweeps conducted by a golf ball diver on both courses, as well as through direct observation of baskets being placed in carts and taken away. While some members have shared that they intended to return the balls later, we unfortunately do not have enough balls or baskets to support this practice. Our baskets — 10 small and 10 large on each side of the range — are intended strictly for on-site use by members and their guests. Moving forward, sta have been instructed to report any removal of range balls or baskets. I will address the matter directly with the individual and repeat violations will be referred to the Golf Advisory Committee for further review. at said, if you have extra range balls that you will not be using, please return them to the Pro Shop. We will gladly reimburse you with a token or token card for any unused balls returned. I understand that these changes and reminders may seem inconvenient, and I truly apologize for that. Please know that these steps are necessary to protect shared resources and to fairly serve all members. My goal, and the goal of our entire golf department, is to uphold the rules and values of Sun Lakes Country Club while providing the best possible experience for everyone. ank you for your understanding, cooperation, and continued support. ~ David A.
