FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2026 11 My name is Mel Harkin, and I have been proud to call K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons at Beaumont home since 2018. I chose this community because of its beautiful landscaping, excellent amenities, diversity, and its focus on active living. Over the years, however, I have come to realize that the greatest asset of our community is its members. One of the things I appreciate most about Four Seasons is the friendliness of our residents. Whether it's neighbors waving as they pass by or welcoming others into activities and clubs, our community truly reflects a spirit of connection and mutual support. During my time here, I have tried to give back to the community that has given so much to me. I have served as a Neighborhood Watch Captain, and I founded the Water Volleyball Club. What began with about 10 members has grown to nearly 100 participants thanks to the enthusiasm of our members and the dedication of our club officers. Watching that group grow has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in our community. Our clubs and activities are part of what make Four Seasons such a vibrant place to live, and I appreciate the many volunteers and members who help make those connections possible. Professionally, my background is in Information Technology. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and certifications in Computer Operations and Management, Computer Systems, and Programming. I am also double-certified through the University of California San Diego's Rady School of Management, with emphasis in Managerial Strategy. My career included more than 25 years with AARP, where I developed a collaborative leadership style and strong planning skills. I believe in thoughtful, proactive decision-making — not simply reacting to problems as they arise, but considering how today's decisions will shape our community in the years ahead. If elected to the HOA Board, I will bring a balanced and analytical approach while always keeping the long-term wellbeing of our community in mind. I believe a strong community board listens carefully to residents, communicates clearly, and works collaboratively to make thoughtful decisions that benefit everyone. Like you, I chose Four Seasons because it is a special place to live. I would be grateful for the opportunity to help protect and strengthen the community we all enjoy. Focused on Our Future Thank you for allowing me to serve on Four Seasons Board of Directors these past 6 years. It has been an exciting time to be able to help make Four Seasons the best place to live. I am grateful to be able to run again for another term, and my hope is to be re-elected. I am looking forward to continue working harmoniously with other Board members, as well as the Management team. Being on the Board of Directors has given me insight as to what the position entails, and I believe I have the necessary experience to continue to do it well. Four Seasons Board Members must know how to plan and understand the budget, deal with disputes, discuss and carry out ideas, and listen to the Homeowners. We are fortunate to have a great Finance Committee that oversees our reserves. As a Board Member, I look at every expenditure and, being detail oriented, try to also make sure that our reserves and expenditures are on course. My policy on reserves is no matter what we have to do, most important is to make sure our reserves are as close to 100% or above. I have for the past 6 years been the Board Liaison for the Landscape Committee and Social Committee, for the last 2 years the Board Liaison for the Conservancy Committee, for the past 1 year the Board Liaison for the Bistro, and for the past four years the Corporate Secretary of the Four Seasons Beaumont Board of Directors. I believe my background in Defense for 25 years, negotiating military contracts for the Department of the Army, my interpersonal skills, being detail oriented and fair, making sure our homeowners are a top priority, makes me a good candidate for re-election. I would appreciate your vote in my re-election to the Board of Directors of this wonderful and amazing community. Thank you! I have been a proud resident of our Four Seasons for 10 years. During my time here I have served on two Committees, one Ad-Hoc Committee, and regularly attended various Committee and Board of Directors meetings. Our community has been fortunate to benefit from dedicated Board members over the years, and I am committed to continuing that tradition of excellence. I believe the Board's primary responsibility is to manage our finances prudently and transparently in the process of keeping our community beautifully maintained. This requires: • active oversight of our facilities • prudent fiscal policies • thoughtful management of contractor relationships • strong collaboration with our management team • listening to the many voices within our community I am ready to bring my experience, dedication, and community knowledge to the Board to help ensure Four Seasons remains a well- managed and thriving community for all residents.
