| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2026 | 31 A Taste of San Diego County: From Coast to Highlands Residents of Ocean Hills Country Club are uniquely positioned to explore one of California's most exciting emerging wine regions — our own backyard. San Diego County's vineyards stretch from coastal influences to inland elevations, producing wines of surprising diversity and character. Our journey begins in the rolling hills of Ramona Valley with a Viognier from Hatfield Creek Vineyards & Winery. Aromatic and expressive, this wine offers notes of honeysuckle and ripe stone fruit balanced by refreshing acidity. It captures the interplay between warm inland sunshine and the cooling Pacific breezes that define the region. Next, a Grenache Rosé from Chuparosa Vineyards showcases San Diego's talent for crafting crisp, dry rosés. Pale salmon in color, it delivers bright strawberry and melon flavors with a clean, coastal finish — perfect for our Southern California lifestyle. From there, we explore Old World inspiration with a Sangiovese from Principe di Tricase Winery. Medium-bodied and vibrant, it reveals cherry, dried herbs, and subtle earthiness. Its lively acidity makes it exceptionally food-friendly and an elegant bridge into the reds. The Rhône tradition shines in a GSM blend from Edwards Vineyard & Cellars. Combining Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, this wine layers red fruit, spice, and savory complexity with refined structure — a testament to the region's high-elevation vineyards and significant day-to-night temperature swings. Finally, we conclude with a bold Cabernet Sauvignon from Milagro Farm Vineyards & Winery. Rich and structured, it displays dark fruit, cocoa, and firm tannins, demonstrating the depth and aging potential achievable in San Diego's inland valleys. Together, these wines tell a story of innovation, dedication, and regional pride. From coast to highlands, San Diego County is proving that world-class wine can flourish right here at home — just a short drive from Oceanside. All residents can join the OH Wine Tasting Club for $15 per person per year by signing up at the Clubhouse front desk. ~ ChatGPT - Jody McDonough, jodyzm@gmail.com, (760) 653- 8198 Wine Tasting Club I want to share some quick but important advice to help you avoid becoming a victim of a real estate scam. Some agents may appear to represent you but act in their own interest instead. They might: • Limit showings or withhold outside offers. • Convince you that "no one wants your home." • Then offer to buy it themselves at a below- market price — only to remodel and resell it for a profit. This is a bait-and-switch tactic, and unfortunately, the seller (you) ends up losing valuable equity. • Review your listing contract carefully. Make sure it requires all offers to be presented to you immediately — it's California law. • Prohibit your agent (or anyone tied to them) from buying your property. This removes conflict of interest. • Request showing feedback regularly. It keeps your agent accountable and ensures your home is being properly marketed. • Ask if your agent has any financial connection to potential buyers or investors. Transparency matters. Your home is one of your biggest assets. You deserve an agent who is loyal, transparent, and fully focused on getting you top dollar. Let's have a quick conversation about how I market and protect my clients' best interests. I'm happy to review your situation confidentially and make sure your sale is handled safely and successfully. Principe di Tricase Winery in Ramona Valley
