If you are expecting company, Grandma's Closet stands ready to help make your little ones' visits a bit simpler by loaning out items they might need. If you have kiddies visiting, make reservations now so you don't get caught short. Some items are very popular! We maintain a list of individuals who have items available for loan, including their contact information and the specific items they wish to share. When someone inquires about borrowing, we will provide this list so that the donor and recipient can arrange the details. These loans are intended for our residents' visitors. Borrowed items (excluding car seats, strollers and car booster seats) are not to be taken out of the village or used by anyone other than the borrower. If you have items to loan out - such as strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Plays, high chairs, books, toys, games, or puzzles - please email Naomi at NaomiBKatz@iCloud.com and/or Rich at redcisc@ gmail.com. Be sure to include the items, their age-appropriateness, and your name, address, phone number, and email address for inclusion on the list. Should you find yourself in need of an item or two, please reach out to Rich or Naomi, and we will send you the list. Additionally, if your visiting grandchildren have left behind items you won't need for a while, consider offering them for loan at Grandma's Closet. If you have clothing or furniture for babies or children that you can't store or use, please let us know. We would be happy to deliver them to the folks at Father Joe's Village, who are always in need. Thank you for your attention and anticipated assistance. Your Board is hard at work making sure 2026 will be a year to be remembered. We ask all new residents to join us – perhaps, even those with musical talents! The kids from Carlsbad High School Visual and Performing Arts Department were great! We'll definitely invite them again. Upcoming events: April 6 - Anita Simons' Playreaders will present original works from her arsenal of personal and AI plays, along with works by Robert Genat, Ed Hutsell and Kathy Hutsell. Come and see what your neighbors have been up to. This production is open to the community with no charge for anyone. Doors open at 6:30 pm for a 7 pm showtime. April 8 - 1 to 3 pm, Actors' Workshop – Regular class. Last month, Courtney Simson led a workshop to hone audition skills. On May 13, Joe Ashby and Dee Wardell will present the class with the melodrama on which they have been working. Please come and hone your skills. Theatre Arts May 4 - 7pm - Civic Youth Orchestra (pictured below). These wonderful kids are coming back to entertain and amaze us. June 5 - 1 pm – Auditions for our October production of "The Music Man." Our own, Courtney Simson, will be directing this Tony award-winning musical which will star OHCC residents. Lots of parts for everyone! Callbacks are scheduled for June 7, at 4 pm. Our next regular Board meeting will be held April 15, at 11 am, in a room to be assigned. Regular Board meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 11 am, and are open to all Theatre Arts members. Join Theatre Arts so you can participate in all of our entertainment and activities. Our annual dues are $15. Make your check payable to "OH Theatre Arts" and bring it to the front desk.
