Landscape Committee Preparing HOA Areas for Firewise USA
Enrollment
From the beginning, several members of the Ad Hoc Wildre
Mitigation Committee also served on the Landscape Committee
so we could stay aligned on new regulations and understand how
they aect our shared spaces.
As many of you learned during the recent Firewise Town Hall,
pine trees — beautiful as they are — pose a high re risk in our
region. To address this, our committee and sta completed
three detailed site walks with tree and re experts. Together, we
reviewed the HOA areas located in the Very High Fire Severity
Zone, including Trail C, e Summit, e Courts, Mesa Verde
Street, and the Breckenridge Conservancy Area.
During these walks, experts helped us identify where our pine
trees need thinning and where adjustments are required to meet
current re safety guidelines. eir recommendations have been
photographed, added to our tree database, and sent out for bids.
e Board of Directors will determine the timeline for this work,
which is expected to roll out over the next three years.
We also evaluated the 0–5 foot zone around the two buildings
included in the Firewise assessment. is zone is especially
important for re safety, so we noted which plants — or in
some cases, trees — may need to be removed or replaced. ose
recommendations have also gone out for bid with nal decisions
to be made by the Board.
What we hope residents see is this: the Landscape Committee
is taking our community's wildre risk seriously. We are
committed to doing our part to improve safety and meet the new
re code and insurance requirements that aect us all.
We always welcome your questions, ideas, and concerns. Please
join us at our monthly meeting, held on the third Tuesday of each
month in the RCN. ~ Cathy Goldsmith
