FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2026 29 Ad hoc Wildfire Mitigation Committee Moving Forward On Our Firewise Journey! After the impressive presentation at our February Town Hall, our committee agreed that this is the right path forward for safety, preparedness, and peace of mind. To begin the process, a subcommittee was created and tasked with completing the 14- page application that will culminate in our becoming a nationally- recognized, certified Firewise Community. Thanks to Cal Fire, we were paired with a knowledgeable advisor who is guiding us through the more complex parts of the application. Our subcommittee has already held several productive meetings, and a draft application, narrative, and five-year action plan were presented at our April meeting. Next up: a review by our advisor, followed by a vote from our Board of Directors. Progress is happening! What We've Decided So Far: One of the most important recommendations from our advisor was to divide our community into two manageable Firewise applications — north and south — each covering about 900 homes. The dividing line is the very definable Edison Easement. The south area, which includes the hills and most of the fire zone terrain, will be submitted first. It's not just because it contains the high risk zones, they are all single homes (the north also has condos) making the application process more straightforward. What's Next: Our committee continues to refine the application and gather the data needed to make our Firewise designation a reality. In future Breeze articles, we'll continue to give you a summary of committee actions and decisions as the process moves forward. Residents are warmly invited to attend our committee meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 1 pm in the RCN. Your voice, ideas, and support make all the difference. ~ Cathy Goldsmith, cathyhg13@yahoo.com Facilities Committee At our last meeting, the Facilities Committee welcomed Rick Van and Lynne Cooke as new members. We appreciate their willingness to volunteer and look forward to collaborating with them to further improve our community spaces. Facilities updated our Charter from seven members to nine members; this was approved by our Board of Directors in March. To become a member, you must complete an application, attend at least three meetings, and be interviewed by the Chairperson, FirstService, and Board liaison, then approved by the Board of Directors at the Open Session. In the past month, several upgrades were made to enhance our communal areas. A television was installed in the Aerobics room. Additionally, the ice maker was replaced with a cabinet, and an upholstery cleaner was purchased for cleaning the cloth chairs at The Lodge and The Summit. The Facilities Committee is actively reviewing several options for future projects, gathering Requests for Information (RFIs) from vendors, and researching potential solutions to ensure ongoing improvements. This careful process ensures that every project is thoughtfully planned and aligns with the interests of the community. The Facilities Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Our next meeting will be May 13 at 9 am in the RCN Conference Room. Homeowners are welcome to attend. ~ Regina Farmer, ginjo25@aol.com
