FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2026 59 Meet Our Certied Pickleball Instructors: Dan Edwards & Jimmy Conner Our Four Seasons community is fortunate to have two Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) certified pickleball instructors — Dan Edwards and Jimmy Conner — who bring passion, expertise, and encouragement to our Pickleball Club. Dan Edwards boasts over 30 years of coaching experience, with the last eight dedicated to pickleball. His unique blend of athletic expertise and instructional precision stems from a background in fitness instruction, allowing him to break down footwork, balance, and body mechanics in ways that make improvement feel natural. Dan pursued his PPR certifications as a natural progression in his teaching career, driven by the joy of seeing his students succeed. For Dan, pickleball is more than a sport — it's a way to build relationships and bring happiness to the community. He believes lesson planning is one of the biggest challenges, as it must accommodate players of varying abilities while ensuring everyone is engaged and progressing. Dan encourages new players to seek mentorship, connect with club members, and focus on foundational skills. His advice? Identify the root cause of your frustration, choose three focus areas — such as foundational skills, stroke development, consistency, strategy, or proper mechanics — and create a simple action plan for targeted practice. Jimmy Conner discovered pickleball after moving to Four Seasons and has been playing for nearly four- and-a-half years. Inspired to give back to the game he loves, Jimmy became a certified instructor to help others enjoy and improve at pickleball. He finds the greatest challenge is teaching groups with different skill levels, so he keeps lessons simple yet informative, ensuring everyone benefits. For Jimmy, the biggest reward is watching students grow, recognize their strengths, and enjoy learning new aspects of the game. His advice to newcomers? "Get out to the courts and play!" Jimmy emphasizes the welcoming nature of the club, where members are eager to offer advice, loan equipment, and help everyone feel at home. He encourages players to join or form groups, practice often, and — most importantly — have fun! With Dan and Jimmy's expertise, our pickleball community is in great hands. If you're interested in trying pickleball for the first time, come out on a Saturday at 8:30 am for a beginner's lesson with Nancy. Club membership is also available for $25. See any Steering Committee member for more information. ~ Dyann Miller, dyannmiller@verizon.net I'm excited to announce the launch of our new Gym Club, a Four Seasons community club designed specifically for seniors who are interested in meeting and discussing fitness and healthy living. As someone who values staying active and strong, I've found that working out is even more rewarding when you can connect with others who share the same commitment to wellness. This club is a place where we can come together to exchange workout tips, discuss the latest equipment and techniques, and support each other along our fitness journeys. We'll also host occasional friendly competition events to challenge ourselves, celebrate our progress, and have some fun along the way. Whether you're looking to refine your routine, discover new exercises that work for our age group, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of fellow fitness enthusiasts, this club is for you. Let's build a stronger, healthier community together — one workout at a time.
