| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2026 | 27 Sunshine Club's Member of the Month Meet Vallarie Clegg! She and Al moved to Solera in 2006, and wow has she been a "go getter!" She joined the Sunshine Club in 2018 and took over as Treasurer in 2019. Aer seven years of service to us, she is stepping down this month, and we can't begin to thank her for all she has done as Treasurer. at's just the beginning of Vallarie's story. She joined Bon Appetite in 2018, the CTAC committee for two years, and the Welcome Committee for four years. Once upon a time, Solera had a TOPS weight loss club. She started as a member in 2014 as the weight recorder and then became president in 2015 for two years. She was the secretary of the Solera Country Kickers for three years and a member of the Sunday Canasta group for eight years, four of which she headed the group. en there was the ursday night Bunco group in 2018, a caller for Bingo as of 2024, and RACC in 2021 for four years. Vallarie started teaching scrapbooking and card making here in 2013 with Paper Craers then Card Art 101 in 2018. ere is even more! anks Vallarie! e Cra Fair was last month and seemed to be a big success. Sunshine Club thanks everyone for stopping by for cookies and coee and for your donations! We look forward to seeing everyone again this fall. Summer is upon us and recycling kicks into full gear this time of year. Remember that it is these funds that allow us to send cards to residents that are ill, have lost a loved one, or simply need an encouraging word. In addition, any resident who has been hospitalized or lost a loved one that lives here in Solera, will receive owers or a fruit tray. But please keep in mind that all of this depends completely on you notifying us that someone has a need. You can do this by contacting one of our members or lling out a yellow information slip now located on the wall in the mail room and dropping it in the yellow box. ese forms are also available in the gym and in the front oce. If you are interested in joining us, we meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1 pm in the Arts & Cras Room. Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/ or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the wall in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely.
