Friends of Bocce
The Winter/Spring Tournament ended on May 5 with a very
exciting final tournament. Winners in the B division are: Evelyn
Hawkins, Paul Budde, Charlie London and Tom Leamy. Winners
in the A division are: Loyal and Maureen Keeney, Charlie and
Pat Maggs. The Summer Tournament began on May 18. Due to
the possibility of hotter temperatures, play has shifted to 5, 6,
and 7 pm. We suggest that you bring water, hats, umbrellas, and
cooling towels to be prepared for warm temperatures. Teams
are always looking for subs during this session. If you are
interested in subbing, call Tom Whittington at (925) 826-7657.
Subbing is a good way to get into playing Bocce.
Dianne Stigall continues to offer Saturday morning play.
These classes offer a stress-free environment to learn the rules
of Bocce or to improve your Bocce skills. Everyone is welcome
but as a courtesy, call Dianne at (951) 216-5219 if you plan to
show up. Play starts at 9:15 am.

Sadly, we have heard that our beloved Jim Curry passed away
one week after his devoted wife, Dutch, passed. They were
among the early supporters of Friends of Bocce and did much
to improve the courts, keep tournaments running smoothly and
refereeing. Our sincere condolences to family and friends.
