If you are expecting company, Grandma's Closet stands ready to help make your little ones' visits a bit simpler by loaning out items they might need. If you have kiddies visiting, make reservations now so you don't get caught short. Some items are very popular! We maintain a list of individuals who have items available for loan, including their contact information and the specific items they wish to share. When someone inquires about borrowing, we will provide this list so that the donor and recipient can arrange the details. These loans are intended for our residents' visitors. Borrowed items (excluding car seats, strollers and car booster seats) are not to be taken out of the village or used by anyone other than the borrower. If you have items to loan out such as strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Plays, high chairs, books, toys, games, or puzzles, please email Naomi at NaomiBKatz@iCloud.com and/or Rich at redcisc@ gmail.com. Be sure to include the items, their age-appropriateness, and your name, address, phone number, and email address for inclusion on the list. Should you find yourself in need of an item or two, please reach out to Rich or Naomi and we will send you the list. Additionally, if your visiting grandchildren have left behind items you won't need for a while, consider offering them for loan at Grandma's Closet. If you have clothing or furniture for babies or children that you can't store or use, please let us know. Think again! Whether you have a tiny patio, cozy balcony, or sunny front porch, container gardening is a wonderful way to bring color, texture, and personality to your outdoor space. At our June Garden Club meeting, Hanna Faultstich and Zoë Brezak from Anderson's La Costa Nursery will show us how to turn ordinary pots into eye-catching garden displays. They will demonstrate the art of combining plants, f lowers, and foliage into beautiful container arrangements. Zoe and Hanna will share tips on selecting plants that thrive together and keeping containers healthy and vibrant all season long. Come early for the 9:30 am social time, when there will be plenty of plants available for purchase perfectly for inspiring your next planting project! Additional shopping time will also be available after the meeting. Our speakers bring both creativity and hands-on horticultural experience to the program. Zoë is a horticulturist, landscape designer, artist, and dog lover whose experience ranges from the San Diego Botanic Garden to conservation work. She is especially passionate about tropical, water-wise, and cottage gardens and appreciates the incredible diversity of plants that thrive in San Diego's climate. Hanna is a garden designer, artist, and lifelong plant enthusiast who grew up in Encinitas surrounded by gardens and coastal beauty. Inspired by the way plants grow and interact together in the landscape, Hanna developed her love of gardening while spending time at the San Diego Botanic Garden, where her mother worked for 14 years. This promises to be a colorful, creative, and informative meeting filled with inspiration for gardeners of every skill level. Event Details: Wednesday, June 10, in Abravanel Hall. Social time begins at 9:30 am with the meeting starting at 10 am. While Garden Club membership is not required to attend monthly meetings, we invite you to join for just $10 per year—sign up at any meeting.
