| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2026 | 57 POP Tennis POP Tennis, formerly known as Paddle Tennis, is a fun, fast sport that can be enjoyed by people at all fitness levels. Though played on a smaller court, with a different paddle, and 20 percent deflated tennis balls, POP Tennis is otherwise scored and regulated like traditional tennis. POP Tennis is played on the courts to the left of the Main Clubhouse usually on Thursday mornings from 8 to 10 am (fall/winter hours). Additionally, there is a group that plays Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 pm. People are free to come and go as their schedules permit. Hours are subject to change, so it is best to check the bulletin board located at the courts for current play times. All are welcome and there are always friendly folks to teach beginners the game! Our Tennis Club's leadership entered 2026 with a primary goal, to offer more opportunities for scheduled tennis events. Three installments of Friday Night Lights, offered March, April and May, have seen strong participation. On May 30, 15 club members took part as guests in a Four Seasons Friendly event at Four Seasons. (Sun Lakes Club members pictured). Then, on the evening of Sat., July 11, our Tennis Club will host a similar Four Seasons Friendly event with dinner to follow. All players and their guests will need to register and pay in advance for their meal. A consistent interest for the Tennis Club has been our ability to attract and actively include new members (inset). This year we have received 20, yes 20, new members as of June 1, 2026. Also, three former members have rejoined. In this respect, we are enjoying a banner year for new members. New members are welcome at any point in the year. Membership Forms ($10 per person) are found at the entrance to the South Clubhouse. Because our first Saturday of the month Mixed Doubles Drop-In falls on the Fourth of July, it is canceled. We will resume this event on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 8 am. Happy July Fourth to each and to all. Our courts will be open for you and your guests.
