| LIFE IN SOLERA | JULY 2026 | 27 Sunshine Club's Member of the Month Meet Judy Charlick (at le), one of the earliest members of the Sunshine Club dating back to 2006. Judy and her husband Bud moved to Solera in December of 2005 aer living in San Jose for 31 years. Sadly, Bud passed away this last year, just shy of 65 years of marriage! Over the years Judy has been foundational to the Sunshine Club. Early on her focus was sending cards and delivering gis as well as being the Secretary and assisting with recycling. In 2015, Judy stepped in as President to help revitalize the club. She remained in this role until 2023 and still lends her expertise at the monthly meetings. at's 20 years of service! Judy has also served as Co- Editor of the Solera Gazette and assisted with the creation of the Welcome Group, now Welcome Committee. Other than assisting Solera, Judy's love is children. She tutored children with learning disabilities for a time and then spent 10 years volunteering to work with Kindergarteners and rst graders with reading, writing, and math. Judy says, "I've enjoyed my activities in the Sunshine club. Everything has been so rewarding, and I've met and worked with some wonderful people!" e Sunshine Club cannot begin to thank Judy enough for her dedication! NO GLASS!!! One of the volunteers was almost cut on glass that had broken in the bins! Please, NO GLASS!!! Other than providing cards to those that are ill and owers or fruit trays to those that have been hospitalized or lost a loved one that lives here in Solera, the Sunshine Club loves to help the community. is year the club voted to use their dues to purchase laundry detergent, something they truly need, for the Ronald McDonald House (above). Mary Jane and I delivered the containers and had a nice chat with Ronald! He was very appreciative. Are you feeling lonely or lost? Please continue your generous donations of plastic bottles and aluminum cans with CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND (NO GLASS!!!). ese items can be deposited in closed bags inside the gated area next to the Mail Room. Please do not include items such as milk jugs, creamers, cat food cans, Clorox bottles, or other cleaning products. SUNSHINE CLUB Sunshine Helpers Needed! Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the wall in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely.
