Proper Watering Technique
Due to our dense clay soil, it is
advisable to water twice a day. If you
plan to water for 10 minutes, split
it into two ve-minute sessions and
schedule the second session an hour
later. is method allows the soil
to absorb moisture more eectively,
potentially reducing the amount
of water that runs into the street.
Watering for more than six minutes at a
time tends to cause runo, exacerbating
this issue. A highly eective approach
is to water before 6 am.
Community Factors
Keep in mind that runo could
also be caused by overwatering from
neighbors a few houses away. When
multiple yards are overwatered, it leads
to street deterioration, creating rough
surfaces as water seeps through small
cracks and erodes the asphalt.
