26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2026 | Cornhole is a simple but competitive game in which players toss small bags at a raised board with a hole near the top. A standard cornhole game uses two boards and eight bags. The boards are typically two feet wide by four feet long, with a six-inch hole placed near the top. Each team uses four bags of one color, and the bags are usually about six inches by six inches. At Four Seasons, the front edges of the boards are placed 27 feet apart. Cornhole can be played as singles, with one player on each side, or doubles, with two-player teams. Players stand beside the board and throw underhand toward the opposite board. Players alternate throws until all eight bags have been tossed in a round. In doubles, teammates stand at opposite boards and continue the same rotation. After the round ends, the score is counted and the next round begins. Scoring in cornhole is straightforward. A bag that goes through the hole scores three points. A bag that lands on the board and stays scores one point. A bag that hits the ground first or bounces onto the board scores zero points. Games use cancellation scoring, which means the lower score in a round is subtracted from the higher score, and only the difference is added to the winning team's total for that round. The first team to reach 21 points at the end of a round win. Cornhole is an easy game to start and a fun one to improve at over time. Four Seasons seniors playfully compete every Wednesday morning at 9 am on the Plaza. Anyone can play cornhole and don't worry if you have never played. Friendly neighbors are always available to help and coach you in getting started. Come out and enjoy the fun and the company of your neighbors. Interested?
