FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2026 27 Safety Committee SAFETY 4 "ALL" SEASONS The Conservancy Committee made two inspection walks since our last Breeze report. We made an inspection walk on May 7 of the eastern portion of the Edison Easement and the Sams Canyon Meadow. We noted a sprinkler wash-out area that was reported to management. Trees and bushes in Sams Canyon Meadow were trimmed away from the fence and the field was recently cut. Overall, the members noted that both areas were the cleanest they have ever looked. Our second inspection walk on June 3 was of Trail A from The Lodge to the Windmill and a return walk on Trail B from the Windmill to Four Seasons Circle by The Lodge. The landscape maintenance crew was fixing irrigation valves along the east end of Trail A. One distressed Live Oak tree was noticed on Trail B and was reported to Kathy Craven for follow-up with the Landscape Committee. The Trails were neatly groomed and plants along the fences were trimmed. Please join us for our next walk on Wednesday, July 1. We will meet at 8 am in front of the Potrero Creek Trail monument in the small Lodge parking lot to walk the northwest portion of Trail B and the outer perimeter of the Potrero parcel. ~ Howard Ochi, Conservancy Committee Chair, hmochi47@hotmail.com and Claudia Rozzi, cc2682@outlook.com Conservancy e lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are time for soda, pretzels, and beer. Memorial Day served as the unocial start of summer. Summer did not begin until June 21. at was the longest day of the year. e summer heat beckons us to the outdoors. Since we spend so much time indoors, I thought that you may need a few reminders to stay safe during the hot time of the year. We may eat and drink food and beverages that we normally do not eat. You should drink plenty of water to neutralize the salty food and sweet drinks. Salt may dehydrate you and sweet drinks may cause your sugar to spike. Limiting the number of sodas, beer, and hot dogs will keep you healthier. Some of you will enjoy a picnic at a local park; others may go to the beach. You might be dodging bicycles and kids at the local park. When you go to the beach, you have to watch out for rip tides and various marine life (sharks and jelly sh). Remember to bring your own shade to the beach to limit your exposure to the sun. Make sure to use long sleeves and plenty of sun screen. Do not be lured to stay out longer on a cloudy day. Cloudy days can leave you with a worse sunburn because you do not feel the heat. I always remember that I could not wait to get to the beach. It seemed that we would start to get cold when the aernoon winds whipped up. e funny thing was that by the time that you got about ve miles away from the coast we could feel the heat again and we wished that we would have stayed longer. e key is to dress for it. Show up and have some extra summer clothes and try and hit the local street fair or farmers market. We live 75 or a 100 miles away from the coast, depending on our choice of beaches. Do your research, pack plenty of food, clothes and sun screen and enjoy the California dream about which many songs were written. We meet on the rst Tuesday of the month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 7 at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. ~ Michael A. Mendoza, srmendoza@verizon.net
