This is just me thinking out loud, but I sincerely hope the July Parade is a success, and the community enjoys all the festivities that come with July 4th! There was a concern within the community regarding coyotes. I would like to address in this article that the security officers have no training in handling wildlife. I decided to look up some information and give it to the community if they come across a Coyote. When to Call Animal Services About Coyotes Coyotes are a normal part of Southern California wildlife, and simply seeing one is not usually an emergency. However, there are situations where Animal Services should be notified. Call Animal Services if the coyote is: • Acting aggressively: Approaching people, growling, baring teeth, lunging, or refusing to back away. • Injured or sick: Limping, bleeding, severe mange, disorientation, excessive drooling, or unusually bold behavior. • Actively attacking or attempting to attack a pet: Any immediate threat to a dog or cat. • Trapped or unable to leave an area: Cornered in a yard, stuck behind fencing, or inside a structure. • Showing no fear of humans: Following residents, approaching porches, or lingering even after loud hazing attempts. • Denning in a high trac human area: Especially near walkways, community centers, or areas where residents frequently gather. Do not call Animal Services for: • A coyote walking through the neighborhood • A coyote seen at dawn or dusk • A coyote near open space, golf courses, or natural habitat • A coyote that runs away when noticed • Normal howling or yipping at night These are considered routine wildlife behaviors. Please call OPD: (760) 435-4911 in the event of a coyote attack. Any questions regarding the rules and regulations, please do not hesitate to contact the front gate. I or any of the other officers will gladly answer them, we seek compliance and adherence to the rules established at Ocean Hills Country Club. Any actions performed by the officers that you would like me to address with the patrol officers, please give me a call or email. That should be it for now! As always, thank you OHCC residents, for your vital role in our community. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the rules. We are committed to serving you and the community; your feedback is invaluable. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to see addressed in a future issue of Living Magazine, we encourage you to share them. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone. My office at the front gate is always open for Ocean Hills Country Club residents. ~ Tony Duong, Account Manager | Securitas Security Services, Tony.
