| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2026 |27 Art Lovers It's summer time and in some countries, folks' eyes turn to art. In this country, we are all year, all Art Lovers. Thus, our club exists. We meet once a month, on the third Tuesday, in the Mykonos room at 12 pm. We try to bring folks an investing program, and once a month try to find an interesting Art venue to visit. This past month the group presented a talk on Toulouse-Lautrec. The speaker was Marlyn Ruman, a new resident in the village. She has an extensive background as a docent at the Getty Museum in LA. She talked about his life, coming from a wealthy French family, and of course, his physical challenges. Marilyn made f lyers of many of his different pieces and passed them around to the audience and asked folks for their reaction to each piece of art. In the same month, the club had a bus trip to the San Diego Museum of Art. There, the work of Lautrec was further enjoyed. There was a bus, so Art Lovers makes it easy to enjoy these trips. We try and present lovely art at each meeting, and our own member Louise Peterson is very artistic in her luncheon presentations. All free. So, join us when you can, on the third Tuesday of every month. Even if you are not a member, come and enjoy our programs. We would love to meet you. Written by Selma Leighton We want to thank all of the artists who showed their beautiful work for the last three months in the Art Studio. It's always a pleasure to enjoy the watercolors, acrylics and oil paintings. And the dynamic art, "The Wave," by Bruce Taylor at the front desk. In mid-July we will be installing the fabulous work of our Photography Club, and it will surely be a wonderful way to celebrate our 250th year of "America the Beautiful." There are so many things to take into consideration when planning a photo shoot. Obviously: subject. But, also lighting, brightness, angles, colors, relevance to viewers, and more. Please come check out the photographs that will be on display and become immersed in the variety of subjects and the talent of our photographers. Also, at the request of Clubhouse Event Coordinator, Julie Van Dam, we are pleased to add her office as another place to display the art of our talented residents. Be sure to stop by her office and take a look at the art of Ernie Pick and Joyce Chaney. We are considering additional areas for display of art in the Clubhouse, so keep an eye out for that possibility. If you would like to display your artwork, please contact Mike Thornton or the writers of this article. Written by Lainy Vinikow and Judy Harris.
