4 | LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2026 | Design Review Committee FRONT YARD Many yards appear brown, likely caused by either the mower being set too low or insucient watering. With hotter weather, your yard now needs more water than it did a month ago. Talk to your gardener to address this. Instead of watering for 12 minutes straight, schedule two six-minute sessions at least an hour apart to help the soil absorb moisture better and reduce runo. Watering before 6 am is especially eective. DRAINS Drains in the front yard are designed to be ve feet from the curb. Maintain the operation of the two front yard drains. Check the availability of the drains. Make sure they are not covered with grass. Complications can occur when these drains are extended too close to or even through the curb, which hinders proper drainage. Additionally, excessive watering in the rear yard can cause green mold on the curb. Evaluate if this applies to your circumstances and regulate your sprinklers to prevent expensive street repairs, as substantial funds are being invested in our streets. TREES Please keep in mind that your front yard requires a tree at least ve feet in height. A disease has aected the purple-leaf plum trees, leading to their decline in the city of Beaumont. e plum trees at the entrance of Solera will ultimately be removed. If this is your sole tree, you will eventually need to replace it. Additionally, some of the birch trees are facing diculties, necessitating the replacement of any that are dead. Remember to get a Home Improvement Application (HIA) from the oce when removing/ replacing trees. Curb Appeal Feature
