38 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2026 | Many people started playing bridge in their younger years. I for one am not sure how I graduated from college because I played so much bridge! It combines three different games into one: the bidding part is like learning a new language, then there is the card playing and getting into a partnership. Our FREE BRIDGE CLASSES are for beginners and seniors that have played many years ago. We have two ladies, Bin Crow and Sharon Sorensen, that prove that it can be learned at this time of our life. They just started to learn here at OHCC in 2023 from the classes that we offer and in the month of June they came in first place! Our free classes that are being taught by Diane Hillman, Ken Shafarman and Casey Shoenhard are a big reason why we now have over 100 members. Bin and Sharon are proof that people in our community can learn this very challenging game by joining our club. We celebrated with Dorothy Gertz on her birthday when she turned 103. Dorothy learned bridge in her 30s and has been playing for over 70 years!
