34 | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2026 | Our June class painted delphiniums. Our technique for this subject was wet into dry. As you can see from the picture, many chose their own colors. Our class consists of beginners through advanced, so please come and join us. We meet on the last ursday of each month in the Annex from 9 am to 12:30 pm. We do ask that you please provide your own supplies. If you have any questions, please give me a call at the above number. We really do have a good time. Happy painting! Watercolor By Sylvia Maxwell, 818-667-1766 Taka Ritchie is our featured artist for August. Our favorite master artist, Taka has returned with her new summer collection. She paints animals, landscapes, waterscapes, portraits and also does commission work. Taka is also proficient in Chinese brush painting. In addition to her watercolor skills, she is also a wonderful seamstress and an accomplished sculptor and published author. In the past, Taka taught our watercolor class for many years. She now teaches mah-jongg and is often found playing in the Clubhouse. She is an award-winning artist and has reached master status in our local Gem of the Valley Art Association. Tuesday, Aug. 25 we will travel to Plant Depot in San Juan Capistrano. We had such a wonderful time when we went last year! Following our visit to the nursery, we will once again have lunch at a lovely restaurant across from the San Juan Capistrano Mission.
