| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2026 | 29 Golf Cart Parade: What better way to start the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America than a good old fashioned golf cart parade (which was a smashing success, both in terms of quantity and quality). Over 40 carts were in the parade, and the decorations were spectacular! As the carts lined up, Cliff Post provided comments as part of the f lag raising ceremony and closed with the Pledge of Allegiance. Now, you cannot get more Americana than that for a "gentlemen, start your engines" opener! The doughnuts and libations were provided by Donna McLaughlin who was assisted by Stella Torres and Cathy Rosand (I am not sure if Dave Mann or John Schilling were a help or not, just saying-Donna says they were!). Thank you for the top notch hostessing (not a real word)! The parade took little less than an hour and was greeted by the residents along the parade route. In addition to the cart decorations, the participants really got into the patriotic moment by dressing up in a patriotic motif. The next parade will occur on or about Halloween, so be on the lookout for future notices. The costumes and decorations are always spectacular. A cannot miss event! Flag Angels: The Flag Angels survived a remarkably busy schedule, four f lag postings in six weeks, 4,150 f lags up and down! However, it was not all work; the Flag Angels had a little get together (light snacks and drinks) at our house where the chairman of the Board, Cliff Post, expressed the Board's appreciation for all the Angels' hard work. They received a much deserved special recognition at the Fourth of July Celebration at the Lodge (thank you Irene Chapman). Upcoming Events: Five f lag postings on Labor Day (Sept. 7), Patriots Day (Sept. 11), Indigenous People Day (Oct. 12), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), and Pearl Harbor Day (Dec. 7). ~ Mike McLaughlin mikemcla43@aol.com, (951) 973-4149 Golf Cart Club Billiards Club If you like the game of pool and would like to meet and play like- minded players, please join us in the Billiards Room on Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 noon.
