THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: POSSIBILITIES OF MIXED MEDIA Have you ever looked at an art supply store and wished you could try a little of everything? That's exactly what mixed media art is all about! By combining different materials and techniques — such as watercolor, acrylics, collage, ink, colored pencils, pastels, and more — you can create artwork that is uniquely your own. The best part? You don't need previous experience to enjoy it. Mixed media encourages curiosity, experimentation, and play rather than perfection. Every project becomes an opportunity to discover something new. Even if you already enjoy watercolor or oil painting, mixed media can add exciting new dimensions to your artwork. Many artists find that layering different materials creates beautiful textures, richer colors, and fresh creative possibilities without replacing the techniques they already love. Our Mixed Media Art gathering is a relaxed, friendly place to explore, learn, and connect with others who enjoy creating. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or have years of artistic experience, you'll find encouragement, inspiration, and plenty of room to experiment at your own pace. We meet on the third Monday of each month from 10 am to 12 noon in the Arts & Crafts Room at the Lodge. The remaining gatherings for 2026 will be held on Aug. 17, Sept. 21, and Oct. 19.
