16 FOUR SEASONS AT TERRA LAGO ROADRUNNER | OCTOBER 2026 Submitted by Elaine Holmes, City of Indio Mayor Construction is progressing on Phase I of the redevelopment of Indio Grand Marketplace, with framing now complete on the rst of two new retail buildings and framing underway on the second. e visible construction marks a major milestone in the transformation of one of Indio's most prominent commercial properties. Located near the southeast corner of Highway 111 and Monroe Street, this construction represents the rst visible step in a long-term vision to reimagine the former mall property into a modern retail destination that serves the growing needs of the community. Haagen Company acquired the property in February 2018 and has spent the past several years working through planning, design, and entitlement eorts to establish a long-term vision for the site. According to Donald Kelley, Jr., President and CFO of Haagen Company, the current plan represents the third redevelopment eort pursued during Haagen Company's ownership of the property. Previous plans were impacted by the pandemic and later by rising construction costs and interest rates. "We have invested in Indio and the Coachella Valley for many years because we believe in the community and its future," said Alexander Haagen III, Chairman and Chief Executive Ocer of Haagen Company. "e start of construction represents the realization of a vision that has been years in the making. We look forward to bringing new life to this property and contributing to the continued growth of the Highway 111 corridor." Phase I includes the construction of two new retail buildings totaling approximately 12,800 square feet along Highway 111, creating a new storefront presence and enhancing the property's visibility and accessibility. e phase also includes renovations to the existing Harbor Freight building as part of the property's ongoing transformation. e project represents a signicant private investment in the Highway 111 corridor and reects continued condence in the growth and future of Indio. With Phase I construction underway, Haagen Company is also moving forward with Phase II of the redevelopment. e Indio Planning Commission has approved entitlements for Phase II, which will add three new drive-through pad opportunities along Highway 111. e project is expected to go before the Indio City Council in September for nal consideration.
