FOUR SEASONS AT TERRA LAGO ROADRUNNER | NOVEMBER 2026 15 By Tim Pierce BOMA performs the third Sunday of every month from 3 to 6 pm in the Lodge. We play classic rock, country, and blues at this free BYO event. BOMA was started by John Reynolds and another former resident over 10 years ago. It has grown into 7 1/2 members (sometimes John's grandson) with an average tenure of 5 1/2 years. During Covid, the band practiced in John's garage, and when "enough was enough," we performed in his driveway. The cul-de-sac was packed. Current members of BOMA include: John Reynolds: Besides the guitar and keyboard, self-taught, John played the trombone in high school and sang in the choir. This is the second band he has been a member of, but the first that has performed in front of an audience. Nanci Mickelsen: Nanci sang in school choirs and High School musicals. Fun fact: Beach Boy Mike Love accompanied her dad to her performance in "Oklahoma". Although she fantasized of being a rock star, life happened instead. Her dream finally came "somewhat" true when she joined BOMA at FSTL. Janet Gast: Janet learned guitar in junior high and later performed at weddings, etc. After just moving into the community, music from BOMA's During performance drew Janet over. She sang every word, so it was destined she join the band. Bob Ramsey: When the Beatles exploded, Bob bought a guitar and taught himself. BOMA is the first band he has ever played with at 86 amazing years old. Lance Frank: Lance plays guitar, drums, and piano and is an accomplished composer with published songs about real places in the Coachella Valley. Jimmy Schaffer: In Lake Arrowhead, Jimmy played his harp (harmonica) in local establishments where a young girl with her mom told him she played saxophone. It was Lark's daughter. The rest is history. Gina Reynolds: After the COVID performance, the kitchen had charcuterie and libations. There's always a party going on at Mama Gina's! Tim Pierce: In grade school, I got a portable reel-to-reel tape recorder for my birthday and sang every song I knew. The first time I performed in front of a live audience was in a packed bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Dottie Pierce: Dottie is our Band Cheerleader. She never sang in front of any living soul until BOMA, but is not afraid to dance. BOMA practices 14 hours a month to do the best job we can as FSTL's "community band." Guess we're not "misfits" after all. We look forward to seeing you at one of our next performances! Meet the People Behind the Band of Misfit Artists (BOMA) All Are Welcome By Jo Berkey "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14-15 I would like to introduce the FSTL residents to our Bible Study Group. This non-denominational, Christ-centered study group has been going strong for 2 1/2 years. Our group focuses on exalting the person of Jesus and giving Him a central place in our lives by focusing on His finished work on the cross. Our group studies the Holy Bible every Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:15 am in the Lodge Craft Room. We read scriptures from the Holy Bible and discuss their meaning together. We reflect on how we can apply scriptures in a way that glorifies God. The Holy Bible was written over a span of approximately 1500 years and by approximately 40 diverse writers and yet the Holy Bible is still relevant to today's issues. The Holy Bible is the best-selling book of all time, with over 5 billion copies sold! Reading the Holy Bible together as a group has deepened our love for God and our love for all people. We are blessed to be a blessing and our goal is to walk in a way that is pleasing to God. We pray for many people in our community and Bill and Stephanie Collins, two of our presenters, have brought back "helping hands" to our community. See the flyer in the Lodge if you'd like to get involved. Whether you know who Jesus of Nazareth is or not, whether you have never opened a Bible or have attended seminary, you are welcome to attend our meetings. Please join us on Wednesday and grow in your spiritual journey as we walk by faith, encourage one another, pray, worship, and fellowship together. Bring an open heart, your Bible If you have one, and we will supply the rest. "Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by Me."
