Ceramic Corner George Johnson and Del Congdon at the Club Fair Camera Club We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Craft Room at the Lodge. Our next meeting will be Sept. 17. Visitors are always welcome. We invite all photographers, regardless of skill level, to join us for our regular meetings and other field trips. Members are always eager to help and teach. We discuss photography, photo software and hardware, and related subjects of interest. Last month, I told you that in our June meeting we had a really interesting discussion on quality of our pictures and how it often is not the photographic equipment that takes a great picture, it is the photographer. Our July challenge from our leader, George Johnson, was to take a picture from a camera (no cell-phone cameras) that costs less than $20. I promised you that in this article, I'd give you the results. Well, the final results are not in yet, more pictures with the "inexpensive" camera to be presented. So, in next month's Breeze article, I'll let you know. At July's Club Fair, we set up an exhibit with some pictures by several members, organized by our chairperson, George Johnson with Del Congdon and others helping. Many visitors commented how great the exhibit looked plus, our club added new e-mail addresses to our mailing list of those interested in attending and joining our club. Commencing with the August meeting, we began doing photograph evaluations of members' pictures who want to participate. Remember, this is voluntary. This friendly critique is a great way to see just exactly what the photographer did "right" and where there could have possibly been improvement. All attendees learn this way whether or not the individual chose to submit their photo. In addition, our alternative photo project is on-going (e.g. we bring a picture of a specific genre we all agree on). This, also, is completely voluntary. That's the great thing about our club. If you desire, you don't have to volunteer any pictures… just sit back and learn from the discussions and critiques. If all goes well, she will be set up and running in September. She is absolutely beautiful. If you have a chance come see her, she is just outside the Craft Room near the old Sales Office. We need to name her so please come to the Craft Room and put in your suggestions. Ceramics class has grown quite a bit so the kiln has come at a great time. Students have been working on large platters, bowls, bird feeders and much more.
