Ballroom Dance Club Doing something different and difficult keeps the brain healthy. Avoiding these new things allows the brain to atrophy – not a good thing. Ballroom and social dancing is exactly the kind of challenge and activity you need to help stay young, and it's fun. Rudolf Nureyev said, "You live as long as you dance." When we were kids we danced, skipped, jumped, ran and twirled – completely unmindful of what anyone else thought. We were just being ourselves, enjoying ourselves, doing what comes naturally. Then we grew up, got serious, became bashful, made excuses and stopped dancing. But it's not too late no matter what your dance experience, our professional and experienced instructors will help you learn. And we all learn exactly the same way – one step at a time. It's good for your heart, good for you brain, and good for your health, so give it a try. Meet some wonderful people, have some fun, and above all – be bold enough to do this for yourself, no matter what others might think. Dance to 50s rock and roll and 60s R&B Motown. In August, we celebrated a birthday for Charlie Hampton. Charlie was unaware of what was about to take place that evening and said, "it was a surprise indeed." Charlie appreciated all the helpers who made the party a success: Debra Garner, Priscilla Robles, Sherrie Barton, Tanya Thorton, Paty Bushnell, and myself, Willa Harris. The residents who attended had fun dancing to the soul-train style workout as well as line dancing. We are looking forward to more fun times in the near future with a second annual Oldies But Goodies night with a DJ. Remember stay well and live life to the fullest.
